Having to deal with all this can be very inconvenient and stressful, not for everyone, but for a lot of people. The best way to stay healthy this winter is to find ways to stay warm in cold weather and to boost your immune system to avoid getting sick.

The flu, COVID-19, and other daily germs that increase during winter are more than a nuisance. Their effects can be fatal.
Here are some tips to stay healthy this winter.
- Get vaccinated against the flu and pneumonia. While keeping your immune system in check would be ideal, if you’re at risk of getting the flu, it’s best to get a shot since it’ll last longer than vitamins.
- When coughing or sneezing, cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or sleeve. You may prevent those around you from getting sick.
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for 20 seconds or more, especially after coughing or sneezing.
- Stay away from sick people. They’re most likely to pass the virus on to you.
- Stay home if you have symptoms of a flu-like illness, such as fever, cough, sore throat, runny nose, body aches, and headaches.
- Disinfect frequently touched surfaces in your home and office to help prevent the spread of germs such as flu viruses and cold viruses like rhinovirus and coronavirus that lead to upper respiratory tract infections (URTI).
- Eat well, exercise regularly, and get plenty of rest! Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water throughout the day. Aim for at least eight glasses a day. Eat more fruits and vegetables. Fruits and vegetables are packed with vitamins and minerals that help your body fight off infections and boost your immune system.
- Stay warm during cold weather by wearing layers of clothing instead of just one shirt or jacket; wear socks outside; and add a hat or scarf for extra warmth.
